Author-Artist-Illustrator

Educator

Welcome to my digital art gallery, a curated space where creativity meets expertise. As a lifelong learner, artist, and educator, I showcase a diverse range of styles and mediums that reflect both my passion for artistic exploration and my commitment to inspiring creativity in others. My work is rooted in the belief that art should be engaging, meaningful, and memorable, much like the learning experiences I strive to create in the classroom. Through both my teaching and my art, I aim to inspire new ways of seeing and creating, encouraging others to explore possibilities they may have never imagined.

Education Journey

As a visual arts educator with an MFA in Drawing and Painting from Claremont Graduate University, a BFA in Studio Art and a Minor in Graphic Design from California State University Dominguez Hills, and over a decade of experience designing and teaching studio-based curricula.

Throughout my career, I have developed and implemented comprehensive programs in drawing, painting, and mixed media, mentoring students of all ages to cultivate technical skill, conceptual thinking, and personal artistic voice. At City Charter School and KIPP Comienza Lower School, I designed curricula that emphasized critique-based learning, reflective practice, and creative risk-taking, while leading large-scale projects, including murals, exhibitions, and interdisciplinary collaborations with theatre and dance.

Why i teach

As both an educator and a practicing artist, I care deeply about helping students grow into confident, curious makers. In my teaching, I focus on creating space for exploration, where students feel comfortable taking risks, asking questions, and learning through doing.

I tend to structure my classes around hands-on, inquiry-driven projects that invite experimentation and collaboration. Rather than emphasizing a single “right” way to work, I encourage students to develop their own approaches while building strong technical skills.

Creating a supportive and inclusive classroom is central to my practice. I want students to feel seen and challenged at the same time to push their ideas further while also trusting their instincts. Reflection plays an important role in this process, helping students connect their work, influences, and evolving perspectives.

Ultimately, my goal is to help students develop not just as artists, but as thinkers, people who are comfortable with uncertainty, open to growth, and engaged in the process of learning over time
